Can this treatment help you?

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a treatment that stimulates the mesoderm, or middle layer of the skin, according to the theory that such stimulation will, in turn, relieve a wide variety of symptoms and ailments.

The connective tissue of the body --- primarily the collagen, which makes up the bone, ligaments, tendons, and muscle --- is derived from the mesoderm. The mesoderm also includes the fat or adipose tissue and connective tissues around organs. Stimulation is accomplished mainly through micro-injections of miscroscopic amounts of either conventional or homeopathic medicines.

Cognitive therapy for stress

Helping people learn to cope.

Amplify’d from www.altmeds.com

Cognitive Therapy

Cognitive therapy is a way of helping people to cope with stress and emotional problems. The concept is based on the premise that the way we think about things affects how we feel emotionally. For example, if you wave to a friend on the opposite side of the street and they don't wave back to you, the way you think about your friend will affect how you feel about the situation. If you think your friend is avoiding you, you might feel sad or angry. If you think your friend is just being absent-minded and didn't notice you, you might think it funny.

Cognitive therapy emphasizes that our feelings are not automatic reactions to events, but are shaped by the ideas we already have. Cognitive therapy involves talking about the connections between how we think, how we feel, and how we behave. It particularly concentrates on unrealistic ideas that might undermine our self-confidence and make us feel depressed or anxious. Examining these connections can help us work out different ways of thinking and behaving that will help us cope better.

Toxic shock prevention

What causes toxic shock syndrome?

Amplify’d from www.altmeds.com

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)

Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare but potentially fatal condition caused by a massive staphylococcus or streptococcus infection. Anyone of any age can get TSS; the germs that cause this condition are found everywhere and can contaminate wounds that come into contact with unclean hands or other surfaces.

The first diagnosed cases of TSS happened in women using high-absorbency tampons; that particular type of tampon has been taken off the market, but tampons still represent a Toxic Shock Syndrome risk. Women should wash hands thoroughly before handling or inserting tampons; store them in a dry place (not the bathroom); use only clean, tightly packaged tampons (not one that has lost its wrapping in a purse, for example); use the lowest absorbency possible; alternate between internal and external sanitary protection, such as sanitary pads; and change tampons frequently during the menstrual period.

Toxic shock symptoms include fever, low blood pressure, a sunburn-like rash, vomiting and diarrhea; anyone with such symptoms should consult a doctor immediately. If the patient is a woman wearing a tampon, diaphragm, or birth control sponge, those items should be removed immediately. Toxic Shock Syndrome can often be treated successfully with antibiotics, but shock can cause permanent organ damage.

Depression responds to acupuncture

Study shows it is effective as drugs.

Acupuncture may fight depression as well as drugs

Acupuncture may be as effective in treating depression as popping a pill, according to new MRI studies.

Antidepressants are among the most prescribed medications in the U.S. to treat mild to moderate depression. But functional MRI tests have revealed that acupuncture is as effective as the most-prescribed anti-depressants at helping the brain release dopamine and serotonin, the chemicals that control happiness, and combat depression.

Acupuncture therapists at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Integrative Medicine, who cited the MRI studies, said acupuncture might be an alternative medicine treatment for someone with mild to moderate depression who is pregnant or no longer wants to rely on pharmaceuticals.

Iridology: The eyes speak

And they talk about your health.

Interview with Iridologist

Susan Laing is a Naturopathic Iridologist and is based in Leeds, England UK. She also specializes in Raw Food and runs workshops. Susan is also training to become an Ashtanga Yoga teacher.

David Hestrin: What is an iridologist?

Susan Laing: In the hands of a really well trained iridologist, we can look at the frontal aspect of the eye, which means it`s the iris we`re looking at and the dynamics of the pupil and also the sclera. And when we look at this part of the eye with a certain amount of magnification (times sixty) on the iriscope, and we`re able to take photographs - hopefully we`re able to tell quite a lot about a person. And when we see quite a lot about a person - we mean that we can tell about the physical aspect of the body and also the emotional and spiritual side of the body, and it`s a lot of clues you can use if you`re hoping to treat somebody with imbalances in the body. So you`re able to choose the right herbs, and we`re able to choose the right nutrition for that person, and we`re able to pick up food intolerances and also vitamins and mineral deficiencies and so on. So it`s also used as a preventative measure. So iridology is really a diagnostic. It really helps to diagnose imbalances in the body.
