Jaundice
Jaundice is a symptom in which the skin and whites of the eyes take on a yellow coloration and the urine appears darker than normal. Jaundice usually indicates a problem with the liver or digestive organs, although it can appear in newborn babies as a result of their adjusting blood supply or incompatibility with the mother's blood type.Read more at www.altmeds.com
Jaundice with nausea, vomiting and discomfort under the right ribcage suggest a problem involving the liver, including cirrhosis or hepatitis. Jaundice accompanied by pale-colored stools and itchy skin indicate a blockage in the bile duct caused by a tumor, parasites, gallstones, or other causes.
Jaundice is caused by bilirubin, a pigment that is normally released with the recycling of red blood cells and is then eliminated through the bile. Bile flows into the intestines during digestion, and the bilirubin gives the stool its typical brown color. In certain ailments, the bilirubin isn't filtered out quickly enough, so the pigment becomes visible.
