NEW YORK -- August 13, 2009 -- The ratio of albumin to creatinine in a person's urine is a powerful and independent predictor of prognosis of heart failure, concluded an article in this week's issue of The Lancet. In the study, the authors aimed to assess the prognostic value of a spot urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) in patients with heart failure, using date from the Candersartan in Heart Failure: Assessment of Reduction in Mortality and Morbidity (CHARM) Programme.
