Study shows protein receptor in the gut is involved in hyperactivity.

Intestine protein receptor linked to hyperactivity

A new study by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center found that a protein receptor on the lining of the intestine may be linked to hyperactivity and other neuropsychiatric problems.

The protein, called guanylyl cyclase-C (GC-C), appears to be vital to normal focus. When researchers deactivated GC-C in mice, the mice exhibited hyperactive and inattentive behavior.
