Indigo is a substance made from the leaves and branches of a group of plants called Indigofera. It is also known as Indian indigo or Quindai. Many of these plants are grown worldwide, but only a few types grow in the United States. Indigo Tinctoria is the source of natural blue indigo dye and also is an active ingredient in Traditional Chinese Medicine used to treat chronic myelocytic leukemia.
