Pharmaceuticals known NOT to work for fibromyalgia:

According to the results of an extensive literature search of fibromyalgia treatment trials performed in 2004, no evidence could be found that these pharmaceutical drugs and supplements had a reliable effect: opioids such as morphine and its synthetic analogs;  corticosteroids; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin;  benzodiazepines (such as Valium) and nonbenzodiazepine hypnotics (such as Ambien); melatonin; calcitonin; thyroid hormone;  guaifenesin (an OTC expectorant); dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA); and magnesium.
