Q: I heard that lemon wedges served with iced tea are often contaminated with germs. Is this true? Are limes also contaminated?

A: A study of restaurant lemon slices found that two out of three were contaminated with e.coli bacteria, which can cause digestive upset. The study was published in the December 2007 issue of the Journal of Environmental Health. Limes were not tested, but they are most likely also contaminated.
