People with IBD are very likely to have tried complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) to treat their symptoms. There are several reasons for this, not the least of which is that many of the prescription medications for IBD carry unwanted side effects. But CAM isn't always the easiest route to take, either, because what worked for one person may not work for another, and just because something is marketed to treat IBD doesn't mean that it will actually help.
