Bugleweed comes from the roots, stems, leaves, and flowers of Lycopus virginicus. It is a member of the mint family that is native to Europe and North America. Bugleweed is available as a dried herb or as a liquid extract or tincture. It can be used as an astringent and is sometimes recommended as an herbal treatment for a fast pulse, Graves' Disease (overactive thyroid), intermittent fever, and for pain relief. Bugleweed can be dangerous if mixed with other medications and should be used only under the guidance of an experienced health care professional.
