Chamomile (Matricia chamomilla), which is native to Europe and northwest Asia, has daisy-like flowers and a long history as a gentle, soothing herb. The herb is native to Eurasia and was used by ancient Egyptians. In traditional German herbalism, chamomile was so popular it was called alles zutrut, meaning "capable of anything." With its sweet apple aroma, chamomile is popular as a tea and is sometimes used in potpourris and aromatic dried flower arrangements. Chamomile can be used cosmetically as a soothing bath, a penetrating facial, and a highlighting shampoo rinse.
