Diabetes, also known as Diabetes mellitus, is a condition in which blood sugar levels remain too high. It can be caused in two ways: either the body does not produce enough insulin to keep the blood sugar at normal levels (called Type 1 or insulin-dependent Diabetes); or the cells do not respond to the insulin in a proper way (which is termed Type 2 or Non-insulin-dependent Diabetes). Diabetes can be a very serious illness with damaging and even deadly complications; it is important to obtain professional help if diagnosed with this illness.
