Watermelon for your blood pressure

Florida State University researchers have found that watermelon extract taken daily for six weeks helped study participants normalize their blood pressure. The extract, called L-citrulline, is converted in the body to L-arginine. Because many people have trouble digesting L-arginine supplements, L-citrulline might be a good alternative.

Researchers said the watermelon extract also might help keep people with prehypertensive conditions (blood pressure readings at the high end of the normal range) from developing Hypertension. Hypertension is a risk factor for strokes and heart attacks.
