Alzheimer's Assn. says coconut oil unproven

The Alzheimer’s Association Medical and Scientific Advisory Council feels there is not enough evidence yet to say that Axona, a “medical food” with the same main ingredient as coconut oil, is useful to patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Although some Alzheimer’s patient caregivers have reported anecdotal evidence that their patients seemed to be helped by using coconut oil, the Alzheimer’s Association points out that coconut oil has never been clinically tested for Alzheimer’s disease.
