Caffeine may be weapon against dementia

Early research on mice shows promising evidence that caffeine may help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and may even reverse the dementia.

The studies, conducted at the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in Tampa, involved giving mice caffeinated drinking water from early adulthood through old age. Those who received the caffeine in their water showed lower levels of amyloid-beta, a sticky protein found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.
