Mammogram guidelines confuse women

Three out of four women don’t understand the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force's new recommendations on how often they should get mammograms. A report on the task force’s findings will appear next month in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine.

In 2009, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force began recommending that women get mammograms every two years, beginning at age 50. The previous recommendation, from the American cancer Society, had been for annual mammograms beginning at age 40.
